Social Justice

In Korea,  the readers who are interested in John Rawls are growing now. At recently,Recently,  His work,”the theoy of justice’ 'The Theory of Justice' was translated by a Korean. It is ranked very highly on the Bookstore’s best selling statistics. Especially , it is interested interesting because the left as well as the right have a lot of interesting on this book.
The reason that many people has a great interesting of this book is associated with economical and political situation of Korean society. His theory of ‘‘social justice’  is specialized by an emphasis of procedural justice. It is the necessary condition of social democracy. At recently, the gap between the rich and the poor is getting bigger in Korea. However, in the affection of the neo-liberalism, the most of people recognizes that competition and inequality are natural and necessary on social maintaining and development. On this situation, On this context, the interesting of procedural equality is increasing now. They think that if equality is ensured on the process, inequality of result can be accepted.  John Rawl’s theory of social justice supports them very effectively so they are interested in his book.
This is the reflection of recent changes of Korean society. it is seen as the give-up of the traditional  apportion policies. However it can make the new policy agendas stronger, which support the equity of process and reduce the inequality of opportunities. In this aspect, It is not only negative, but partly positive.
